Since Early 1900s
In the past hundred years … we have lost about 95 percent of the garden seed diversity that was available in the early 1900’s. Privatization of seed, contamination from genetically modified organisms, industrialization of agriculture, and widespread habitat destruction threaten the deep diversity of non-human species upon which human life depends.
