Candidates' Forum, Oct. 10, 7-Lakes

Three nonpartisan groups sponsor a candidates' forum Tuesday, Oct. 10, 7 - 9 p.m., Westside Community Center, Seven Lakes West. Open to the public without charge.

Candidates expected to attend:

U.S. Congress, District 6 -- incumbent Howard Coble, Republican, and Democratic challenger Rory Blake

N.C. State House of Representatives, District 52 -- Joe Boylan, Republican; Gerald Galloway, unaffiliated, and Manila "Bud" Shaver, unaffiliated

County Commissioner, District 5 -- Teresa (Terry) Cameron Marquez, Democrat, and Jimmy Melton, Republican

District Court Judge (nonpartisan) -- Kristian Allen and Scott Etheridge.

Sponsors are the League of Women Voters of Moore County, the NAACP of Moore County, and the Seven Lakes Civic Group.

The forum operates according to the format of the National League of Women Voters. Candidates provide brief background statements, answer prepared questions and impromptu questions from the audience.
