Know Your Shrimp

Know where your shrimp come from.
Most shrimp are farmed. You want those farmed in the U.S.A. Shrimp imported from elsewhere can have serious environmental and pollution problems. Some scientists have used the word"toxic" to describe the conditions in which some of these shrimp are raised.
So check labels and/or question the market seafood manager to find out where the shrimp come from. Usually, if the shrimp are inexpensive, they are imported.
